The Mass in D major was composed in 1887 at the suggestion of Dvořák's patron Josef Hlávka for the inauguration of the Lužany castle chapel. It is written for choir and organ with occasional passages for soloists.
UK premiere of On Christmas Night was given on 28 November 2011 in Rugby School by the Arnold Singers conducted by Richard Dunster-Sigtermans
